Vacant MPhil position

The research project is to satisfy the requirement for the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) entitled, “A smart rural development decision-making framework to improve socio-economic in Sarawak”. There is one (1) MPhil title (full time 2 years) attached to this project.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, a candidate should have:
1. A Malaysian citizenship
2. Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Engineering Science or other relevant bachelor degree with the award of the degree of Bachelor with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours and a minimum CGPA of 3.00
3. Willingness to learn new things and to conduct breakthrough research
4. Have interest and passion in research
5. Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision
6. Good proficiency in English (writing and speaking) (e.g. IELTS: overall band of 6.5 and no individual band below 6.0)
7. Good communication skills and willing to interact well with other people

PhD SUPERVISION AND PROJECT TEAM
This PhD project will be supervised by Dr Low Wai Wah, A/P Dr Wong Kwong Soon, Dr Tay Ai Chen from Curtin University Malaysia, Dr Wong Shi Yee from University Technology Sarawak as well as Prof. Wang Chen from Huaqiao University

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS
In Sarawak, nearly half of the population is residing in rural areas. Smart rural development is important in improving social-economic status of Sarawak rural community through social needs and quality of life style. It will directly contributing the development of rural resilience by improving adaptability capacity of rural community. This research aims to fill in the existing knowledge gaps by developing a new decision-making support framework to address how the mechanism of smart rural development supports the development of rural resilience.
